    Go Green And Save Money

    Untitled

Whether you want to be an all out eco-warrior, save a few pounds on your energy bills or simply do your bit for the planet – there is an abundance of simple things we can all do to play our part.

We’ll bring you regular tips for going green and potentially saving you money which are simple to implement.

Most of you are already doing your part by recycling your old mobile phones and getting paid some good old green cash for your efforts.

You may be aware that the UK is currently facing its biggest drought threat in decades. Small rivers are actually drying up and our reservoirs in the South are running dangerously low. Many counties are set to impose hose pipe bans from as early as tomorrow, so there’ll be no watering the plants or washing your car until we get some heavy rain falls.

The groundwater levels which drive the flows of water to our rivers are at an all time low, with only 1892 and 1920 having lower levels of rain than what we are currently experiencing.

A few things we can all do now that will make a huge difference to the amount of water we consume:

1, Turn the tap off whilst you’re cleaning your teeth and save six litres of water per minute.

2, Use a bucket to wash your car instead of the hose pipe and you could potentially save 125 litres of water! With the impending hose pipe ban looming, this is a great place to start.

3, Take slightly shorter showers and see if you can hop in and out in 4 minutes and save on average 10 litres of water a minute!

Thames Water are also offering people FREE water saving devices which they’ll even post to you completely FREE of charge. So not only can we do so much to help reduce our water consumption, we don’t even have to pay for the items to help us! The great news is that if you’re on a water meter and pay for water as you use it, your water bills will also come down saving you even more money!

To claim your FREE water saving devices and find out more about how to save water visit the Thames Water website now.
